How to publish a standalone survey page
The option to publish a standalone survey page can be found within the 'Manage Visibility' section of the Survey Editor. You can access this setting during the process of creating a new survey or while editing an existing one.
Within the Manage Visibility section of the Survey Editor:
Check the Standalone Page option:
It's good to note that the Standalone Page channel can be chosen even if other channels have been selected for the survey. The Standalone Page channel is completely independent of other enabled channels.
Multiple surveys can be assigned to the Standalone Page channel, because they each have a unique URL.
Standalone page settings
Standalone surveys have some settings that can be changed on a per survey basis.
To review and edit the settings for your standalone survey page, select the Settings tab in the left hand pane:
Select the Standalone page & Embedded title to reveal the settings. Standalone and embedded surveys share the same settings:
Title
(Optional) - The main title of the survey that will appear before your survey questions. Can be left blank if no title is required.
If you'd like to change the heading of the survey to something like "Thank you for your feedback!" when a respondent submits the survey, then we have a javascript event that you can latch onto to change the wording. It requires a bit of javascript and CSS knowledge, but we have an article that explains how to do this: How do I change the standalone survey heading after a successful submission?
Introduction text
(Optional) - This introduction will appear underneath the main survey title, but above the first survey question. This field accepts HTML if you need to add images, links or text formatting elements to the text. Can be left blank if no introduction is required.
Submit button text
Default's to "Submit" but can be changed to suit your needs.
Thank you message
This is the message that will appear after a successful submission of the survey.
Enable name and email fields
With this option enabled, you can request that the respondent must submit their personal details along with their survey responses. The fields that will appear are:
- First name
- Last name
- Email address
This will allow you to tie responses against an email address which you may then be able to use for marketing purposes at a later date.
Location of personal details fields
By default, when the Enable name and email fields option is enabled, the personal details fields will be displayed below the survey questions. Changing the Display fields dropdown to Above questions will place the personal details fields above the first survey question.
Save to publish
Remember to save your survey:
That's it, your standalone survey page is now live!
Viewing the standalone survey page
When viewing the survey overview page, you will see that it has a green Standalone Page badge indicating that it has been published as a standalone survey page:
You will also see a Visit page link which will take you straight to your standalone survey which sits on a unique URL within your store.
You can also locate the unique URL link for that standalone survey page via the More actions dropdown menu. Select the Standalone survey link option:
The unique URL of your Standalone survey page is then displayed:
You will also see two icons to the right of the URL. The first icon will copy the URL link to your clipboard and the second icon will open the standalone survey in an external browser window.
Pre-populating the survey link with identifiable URL parameters
The standalone survey page also supports a number of variables such as customer_id and order_id that when incorporated into the URL, can be used to identify the respondent and ensure that they need only answer the survey question.
