Applying a tag to an order or customer when a survey has been submitted can indicate at a glance that the customer has provided some feedback to one of your surveys. You may be looking to segment customers based on whether or not they have submitted a response to a specific survey. Tags make segmentation simple within Shopify Admin and within external marketing automation tools such as Klaviyo.
What tags will be applied?
Unlike question level tags that use the respondents answers as the tag values, survey level tags are specified within the settings of your survey and are fixed to the value that you specify. You can apply as many survey level tags as needed.
When will the tags be applied?
Survey level tags will be applied when the survey has been fully completed. If a survey is only partially completed, survey level tags will not be applied.
What about question level tags?
If you are looking to set-up dynamic question level tags, please see our article on using tags to identify survey responses.
How to configure survey level tags
Locate the Settings tab in the left-hand panel of the survey editor:
Click on the Tagging option to reveal the tagging options:
Multiple fixed tags can be applied by separating each tag with a comma.
That's it!
Please Note:
Shopify Order tags are limited to 40 characters and Shopify Customer tags are limited to 255 characters.
If your tags exceed those limits, the tag will automatically be shortened before being applied.
